"When you find a true teacher, a mentor who genuinely guides you, your worldview can shift.

I have always believed that a great mentor does more than impart knowledge - they inspire, support, and empower you to walk confidently on your career path. I was fortunate to meet such a person.

Anh Viet Anh was more than just a senior who studied at Leeds Beckett University before me; he was the first person to edit my CV when I set foot in the UK for my

Master’s degree. Looking back to that time, the transition was filled with uncertainties and challenges. I never imagined I would secure my first part-time job at university as a Global Ambassador - an opportunity that opened doors to countless invaluable experiences. His sincere advice, dedication, and wealth of experience helped me gain clarity about my future path.

Our discussions extended beyond career guidance. He helped me recognise my value, leverage opportunities, and utilise my strengths to navigate the competitive UK job market. Just a few months after graduating, by applying the insights Viet Anh shared, I landed my first full-time job in the UK - what I often call my "dream job."

What I am most grateful for is the chance to immerse myself in an educational environment, engaging with international students from both Leeds Beckett University and the University of Leeds. My role was not just about supporting students through their academic journeys; I also had the privilege of teaching and coaching them, preparing them to enter university with confidence. Along the way, I unlocked new skills, grew both personally and professionally, and worked alongside talented colleagues who further shaped my journey.

Sometimes, the smallest gestures lead to the most profound changes.

For me, Viet Anh’s guidance was one of those turning points. No one succeeds alone—sometimes, the right mentor is the key to unlocking your potential. But be prepared—he is not the easiest to please! When I first started working with him and D-HUB, I thought, Why do I have so many things to fix - my CV, Cover Letter, Portfolio? But trust me, the effort is worth it. Viet Anh provides valuable reference materials to guide you, but you must be willing to put in the work. One day, when the right opportunity comes, all you need to do is open the door.

Finally, thank you, Viet Anh, for the quick yet meaningful meeting in London, for the tiny cup of matcha, and for the book Diligence Today, Freedom Tomorrow - a short but powerful read. And most of all, thank you for everything you have given me."
